Our team selected this yokode kyusu at Gyokko Kiln during our 2025 visit to Tokoname, Japan. Led by second-generation potter Hirotaka Umehara, Gyokko is a family-run kiln specializing in traditional teaware crafted for comfort and ease of use.

To create its one-of-a-kind design, seaweed was wrapped around the vessel before firing, leaving behind delicate, organic patterns across its rich red clay surface. The integrated sasame filter ensures a smooth, graceful pour, while the unglazed clay offers balanced heat retention and a subtly porous texture suited to refined tea preparation.

To maintain purity of flavor, we recommend reserving this kyusu for a single green, white or oolong tea.
