- Onitsuka Shincha Haruto
Onitsuka Shincha Haruto
Slightly floral cherry blossoms aroma, sweet and complex finish with a fresh and balanced taste.
Haruto is a cross between Saemidori and Sakimidori, combining the strengths of both parent cultivars. It produces a vibrant green infusion with a balanced flavor profile and a distinctive aromatic character.
This lot of Haruto was cultivated by our friend Onitsuka-san in the rich volcanic soils of Kagoshima. The fertile terroir contributes to a tea with remarkable depth, a vivid infusion, and a sweet floral aroma that lingers in the cup.
Onitsuka-san is a fifth-generation organic tea farmer in the Shibushi region of Kagoshima. He specializes in mid-steamed ("chumushi") sencha with a rich, juicy character shaped by his meticulous soil management and masterful cultivation techniques.
He grows several cultivars for Rishi's organic sencha program and brings exceptional care to every stage of production. His dedication to organic farming and tea craftsmanship is evident in the quality and character of each harvest.

Kagoshima Prefecture is located at the southwest tip of Kyushu (the third largest island of Japan) and is largely mountainous and home to important lumber, fishing and agriculture industries. Much like the rest of Japan, this region has well manicured tea gardens with well-developed irrigation, and farmers follow strict growing procedures to produce this perfect tea bush shape and size.

- Fanny W.Verified BuyerI recommend this productRated 4 out of 5 stars10 months agoInteresting and Unique Shincha
Nice shincha from this region. I've had better shincha from other regions but this one is good, though not outstanding. The specific cultivar has a unique flavor which I 'm not able to describe. Somehow, it reminds me of the Machiko cultivar I purchased years ago from Rishi but have not seen offered in a while. Thanh you for allowing people like us to try so many varietals of shincha during this important season!
